WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples High School senior Logan Rosen was honored by the Westport Sunrise Rotary on Friday as Young Student Entrepreneur of the Month for his contributions to Staples and the community.
The Rev. John Branson of Christ & Holy Trinity Church introduced Rosen and praised him for "giving back to the Staples community" by redesigning the school's guidance department website and the website for Inklings, the school's student newspaper.
Not only did Rosen give the guidance website a new look, Branson said the improvements also attracted more students to the Internship Program. The new Inklings website, Branson added, looks like that of a well-established newspaper and offers easy access to content.
Rosen designed his first website when he was 5, Branson said. Two years ago, he wrote an article comparing three software applications that enhance learning, teaching and research based on their value to Staples. A University of Michigan professor cited the article as a contribution to that body of knowledge.
Presenting the award, Branson called Rosen the "fulfillment of our dream as Rotarians for his 'Service Above Self,'" the motto of Rotary International.
Rosen thanked the club and said developing these sites is a "personal passion," and that he "enjoyed giving back."
